Thailand!
Put yes now I'm in Thailand with Julia. I worked with her in the Rutherford up in Nelson in 2006. Some time ago she text me and asked if I wanted to come to Thailand, Yes!!!
First day in Bangkok was mad. It's nothing that I've ever seem or experienced before. Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and even Phnom Phenn seem relaxed and organised compared to this! Off course we payed to much for a tuk tuk and got completely lost in China town but at the end of the day we had mastered the ferry over the canals and were taking public transport. Prices differ extremely here. Bus is 7 baht where a tuk tuk would be 150 baht! Second day we saw all the high lights: Wat Pho, Standing Buddha, Golden mountain, Grand Palace and the National Museum. Even though we thought we would not be fooled we did manage to fall for the I'll drive you around for 20 baht trip, no stops! Yeah right a jewelry and suit maker later hahah
Next day we flew to Chang Mai, chilled out the rest of the after noon and went shopping at the Night Bazar. We are both on the same page to try and avoid the big touristy tours and places so decided to head to Pai instead of booking tour from Chang Mai.
A little minivan brought us to Pai this morning over windy roads, though gorgeous green mountains and valleys. In the afternoon we went for an elephant ride!! just us and another couple, 1,5 half jungle and river. It was amazing to sit on top of such a huge animal. It's quite high I can tell you! Steep ups and downs finally brought us to the river were we played around with her. This is so amazing, big laughs. She rolls over and just lays her head under water with her trunk coming up for air. Apparently the elephants love to play and its truly a game when they lift up, shake there head and send you flying into the river!
